Our Story — Born from a Pet Parent's Heart
Every pet parent has a story like this: a trip you couldn't avoid, a boarding place that looked fine online, and a pet who came back quieter than when he left. That's roughly how Velvet Foster Home began — not as a business plan, but as a reaction to how little Kolkata's pet boarding options actually thought about the animal's experience.
The search for something better meant looking for the best cage free dog daycare near me and coming up mostly empty — plenty of kennels, very few homes. So instead of settling, we built the option we couldn't find: open rooms instead of crates, real meals instead of packaged feed, and people who stay with the pets instead of checking on them on a schedule.
What started with a handful of dogs from friends and neighbours has grown into a dog care centre in Kolkata that hundreds of families now trust with the parts of pet ownership that are hardest to hand off to someone else.
